We all know how important is for each of us to feel at home once we step foot through the entrance door.
When we look at a piece of furniture, we can recollect the exact moment when we chose it over the others and why. Maybe it was love at first sight, or it took us some minutes before being able to picture the final effect it would have brought into the room.
Neverthless, it captured our attention.
It’s not just about filling the emptiness of a new house, otherwise immaculate and anonymous. It’s more creating “the” atmosphere and expressing our personalities.
This is the only way to feel represented, since the choices we make over the years have all a precise meaning and reflect our inner soul.
A masterpiece: The Carpet
Carpets are a fundamental part of the decorative process and are pretty much suitable for every house, given that people can space among thousands of alternatives in terms of shapes, formats, colors, fabrics / materials.
That’s why I thought of interviewing a carpet producer, to get some insights on what he does and on his phylosophy. His name is Aftab and he is the founder of Hand Printed carpet.
A bit of insights on Hand Printed carpet
Alice: How did it all started and how did you come up with this business idea?
Aftab: Hand Printed carpet was founded in 2010 and, as you probably are already aware of, the realization of carpets in India is one of our most ancient traditions. Therefore, my brothers and I decided to start a business on our own. As a result, we put our efforts together, mainly to rediscover our roots.
Alice: So you are based in India, aren’t you?
Aftab: Correct. To be precise, we are based in Bhadoni, above all renowed to be the Carpet city across the globe. We do not want to stop here, though: our plans for the future are to grow and to expand internationally. First of all thanks to social media, where we can post pictures of our products, then through our website (which will soon be fully operative).
Alice: If you had to pick the biggest challenge you have faced since the beginning, what would you choose and why?
Aftab: Well, it’s hard to select one, since over the years we have encountered many difficulties, but I would definetely say that the color bleedind was among the thoughest.

Alice: What do you like about your job?
Aftab: As you know, carpets are fashion items and you cannot settle down to keeping up with competitors. Hence, you need to be a pioneer, an innovator, and people will perceive the worth of your work. We do not have a precise theme: you can find geometric shapes, abstract motives and real subjects.
Alice: What type of colors do you use to realize them? Is your workforce local?
Aftab: During the production phase, we use chemical dyes for carpets and all our employees are local. I would say that our distinctive trait are the quality of materials and the expertise of our artisans.
Alice: Where do you get yourself inspired from?
Aftab: There is an English proverb ‘where there is will, there is way‘ and I would like to be honest with you, hence, I would say that making money is the main source of inspiration for me
